Bounce for Leeds was a charity event organised by Yorkshire Cancer Research to raise money for their charity work. 775 people turned out to try and break the world record for the most people racing over 100m on space hoppers along with a 1 minute sponsored space hopper bounce. Unfortunately they didn’t break last years record of 771 people but more importantly thousands of pounds were raised in sponsorship and everyone involved had lots of fun.

Leeds Media Services record Peter Hendy CBE, Commissioner of Transport for London

Transporting London - the economics and politics of keeping a world city moving.

Peter Hendy, a University of Leeds graduate in Economics and Geography (1975), delivered the second Leeds University Business School Annual Lecture to an audience of over 120 alumni. The lecture was held in London’s Living Room at City Hall, home to the Greater London Authority. The event was recorded by Leeds Media Services.

The lecture was followed by a question and answer session and drinks reception with Peter, whilst guests enjoyed stunning views from the balcony of London’s Living room, on the 9th floor of City Hall.

Leeds Media Services film William Hill Greyhound Derby preview

On the 6th of June Leeds Media Services filmed the preview dinner event for the 2011 Greyhound Derby run by William Hill. The dinner has held for the owners and trainers of the greyhounds in the final.  Tailors Sky trained by Charlie Lister won the 2011 Williamhill.com Greyhound Derby final.

On Monday the 16th of May Leeds Media Services recorded 2011 Sony DAB Rising Star Robbie Savage, Ron Atkinson and William Hill’s Lee Phelps reviewing the final Premier League games of the 2010/2011 season. The videos are available online and were played in William Hill’s 2300 betting shops.

Between the 13-15 April 2011 the University of Leeds hosted Concentrationary Imaginaries: Imaginaries of Violence International Conference. The conference featured presentations from Griselda Pollock, Samuel Weber and Adriana Cavarero.  Leeds Media Services provided the filming, editing and encoding for the conference.

Professor composes ‘perfect’ Eurovision song

Leeds Media Services recently filmed Derek Scott, professor of music at the University of Leeds discussing the elements that make the ‘perfect’ Eurovision song.

Professor Scott has analysed over fifty years of Eurovision entries in a bid to investigate the secret to success in the competition. His song, ‘Be Nice to Nice People’ is based on the findings of his research and incorporates elements which he believes to be key to avoiding the dreaded ‘nul-points’ and taking the coveted top spot in the biggest music event of the year.
